Organised by the CLP’s BAME Officer, Ummrana Farooq – Moorside Branch hosted the ‘East meets West Ladies Night’.  The event, held at St Johns with St Marks Church, was attended by North West MEP – Julie Ward, along with Nikki Frith on behalf of Bury North MP – James Frith and Councillors Sandra Walmsley, Susan Southworth and Sarah Southworth.

The fun and entertaining evening started with thoughts for the late chair of Moorside ward branch and former Councillor, Keith Rothwell and continued with an empowering speech from Julie Ward MEP, Pampering – Henna by our young Labour member Huma Farooq, hand & shoulder massage by local beauticians Haseena Iftikaar and Hadia Sakhi, Bollywood workshop and a guest appearance by a LOL Doll (Mascot) who entertained the members with dancing to Bollywood music – played by DJ Amy (Aka Amina Farooq). The evening was complimented by a three course Asian meal

The fundraising was to raise Moorside Branch’s funds and to assist in integrating BAME Women who live in the ward and struggle to socialise, the Women only event ensured Muslim women felt more comfortable and at ease, which was improved with relaxing pampering sessions.

Feedback was very positive and the £12 tickets, were considered great value for money. The ward have said they would like to have this event repeated annually. funds totalling over £250 have boosted the branches bank balance in preparation for campaigning.
