Massey Street - Not for wagons

Cllr Sarah Southworth and Moorside Labour candidate Annette McKay are pictured next to a new road sign entering Massey Street off Huntley Mount Road.

The Moorside Labour team have worked hard to ensure the sign was put up following complaints from residents on Massey Street and Kay Street as heavy goods vehicles were driving down the street and were unable to get out the other end. SatNav directions lead vehicles this way to get through to the industrial estate and so having the sign fitted was needed to divert the traffic via an alternative route. Cllr Southworth said; "This has not only caused residents much frustration but was an accident waiting to happen. Large vehicles would get stuck and then try and turn around in the cul-de-sac often with children playing in the street. Hopefully the sign will stop vehicles going this way from now on."
