A new mayor

Following the recent local elections there have been changes to Bury council. Along with new councillors, there have also been changes at the top.

East ward councillor Mike Connolly has become the new mayor of Bury. You can see him in his robes and chains of office at local events all around the borough throughout his mayoral year. He will also be ensuring good order at Bury council meetings as the mayor is responsible for chairing these.

Mike has moved on from serving as leader of the Labour group and council to take up his role as mayor. The role of Labour group an council leader goes to councillor for Radcliffe West, Rishi Shori.

Good luck in your new positions everyone and congratulations.
